KidzWorld Interviews Brandon Pacheco

With his debut EP Broke Up being released this past week on itunes, Brandon Pacheco sat down with Kidzworld for an interview.

Thirteen year old Canadian singer Brandon Pacheco has made the leap from internet success to getting signed and performing for live audiences. His YouTube videos skyrocketed to 600 000 hits and it was only a matter of time before his soul and positivity got noticed by Justin Bieber’s producer Rob Wells—find out more in this Q&A!

Kidzworld: When did you first realize you wanted to make music?

Brandon Pacheco: When I was around six-ish and my mother got blind because she used to sing to me “you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy…” when I was younger and then when she went blind I started singing it for her and then she got happy, and also I like making people happy and I thought that the only way I could do that is through my singing.

Fashionights Interviews Brandon Pacheco

My initial thought when I met 13-year-old, Brandon Pacheco was, “this kid is too cute to take serious.” This was laid to rest, early.

Don’t let his height and wide-eyed demeanor fool you, Brandon Pacheco has talent, personality & spunk that’ll have you asking for more. And if his over 100K viewed videos on YouTube don’t sell you, his anticipated debut CD, Broke Up,will have you sign, sealed and delivered! The album which was co-produced & co-written by Rob Wells, who has worked with the likes of Mika, Backstreet Boys, Cyndi Lauper and Justin Bieber has hit written all over it!

While we’re on the Bieber topic, a lot of people and media are calling him the next Justin Bieber, and I really don’t want that falling on the boy, because really – asides the whole YouTube thing – they’re different and have a different outreach from one another. Pacheco has such a vibrant and dynamic voice!

Cadence Canada Interviews Brandon Pacheco

Cadence Canada interviews Brandon Pacheco and asks questions fans want to hear.

Seen by many as perhaps the new Justin Bieber – and not unjustly, considering both the young talents were discovered through their widely popular YouTube videos – Brandon, who initially sang to comfort his glaucoma-affected mother, Manuela, and keep in touch with his father in the wake of his parents’ divorce, now finds himself in the midst of a budding career as a singer, dancer, musician, and recording artist.

Did you always want to be a singer? What made you realize you wanted to be one?

I wanted to be a singer after my mom went blind, because she used to sing to me when I was younger. And when she went blind and she was crying, I would sing to her, and then make her feel better. So, then I realized that, like, when I sang, that it touched people and it made them happy, so ever since then I wanted to be a singer. And that happened when I was six.

Since then, you started taking requests from your friends at school to do YouTube videos, and in light of that (and doing the song for your mother), what ultimately is the thing that makes you decide on what songs to choose? Is it just that the songs strike you in some way?

Well, what I used to do to choose the song is I asked for requests, and then people would send them in. Then I would sing the song, or if I already knew it, I’d evaluate if I had any type of connection or if it would be appropriate and everything. And then I would try singing it; and then if it worked out, that was great, and I would record a video. But if it didn’t, then I’d personal-message them back and be like, “Oh hi. Yeah, I can’t really sing the other song, is there another song in particular that you wanted, other than that one?” and they’d be like, “Oh yeah!” or “Oh no, that’s okay then!” and all that stuff.
